Community health

In the majority of our partner countries, access to basic healthcare remains a major issue. Located closer to the populations, both at the rural level and for the disadvantaged populations in urban areas, community health (defined by the WHO and UNICEF at the Alma Ata Primary Health Care Conference in 1978 ) makes it possible to promote access to primary health care and to target prevention, screening, treatment and monitoring of populations. Investing in community health allows to:
- Directly reduce preventable causes of death (complications of pregnancy or childbirth, screening and management of childhood illnesses)
- Engage populations in favor of their own health (empowerment)
- Encourage the adoption of positive behaviors, such as early seeking care.
