Niamey, 16th June 2023 – Bioforce, in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Nigerien NGO Forsani and the Government of the Principality of Monaco, is organising for the first time in Niamey a Humanitarian Players Forum from 9 am to 3.30 pm on Wednesday 21st June 2023. This forum falls within the scope of the pilot project for the training and professional integration of refugees and internally displaced persons in West and Central Africa (ReCAPREF) initiated in June 2022 in the run-up to World Refugee Day.

The goal of the forum is to promote networking and exchange between refugees and internally displaced individuals trained in humanitarian professions and employees from the humanitarian sector in Niger and within the ECOWAS region. The day will feature various discussions and talks on flagship areas of the humanitarian sector, including tracking of humanitarian aid and employability in the humanitarian sector.

As Bénédicte Schutz, Special Envoy for Monaco’s International Cooperation points out, “this event will offer us an opportunity, just a few months ahead of the second Global Refugee Forum, to turn the spotlight on the role played by Nigerien civil society and the commitment of the Niger Government in responding to the needs of refugees, but also the desire of refugees themselves to make their own personal contribution through diploma-based training. The Principality is delighted that through the ReCAPREF pilot project it will be able to support the access of refugees to humanitarian professions and to help provide a quality response to humanitarian situations.”

This forum will also help improve individual monitoring of the placement and recruitment of refugees and internally displaced persons trained by Bioforce in Niger from June 2022 to March 2023.
