1st training course in reinforcing healthcare systems in developing countries

In the autumn, the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development [Fondation pour les Etudes et Recherches sur le Développement International, FERDI], supported by Monaco’s Office of International Cooperation, provided an innovative training course on the reinforcement of healthcare systems in developing countries.
Formation sur le renforcement des systèmes de santé dans les pays en développement
This initiative emerged from FERDI’s observation that there was a great need for training and capacity building. The participants, public and private stakeholders from the healthcare sector from low or middle-income French-speaking African countries, thus receive 60 hours of certified training from internationally renowned experts in health economics.
The countries targeted include five that are considered to be of high priority by Monaco’s Office of International Cooperation: Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. The training focused on infectious diseases (diarrhoeal diseases, malaria, lower respiratory tract infections, HIV/AIDS), of which there is a high prevalence in these countries.
The project forms part of Monaco's Office of International Cooperation's flagship programme that focuses on the fight against pandemics, and corresponds to Sustainable Development Goal No. 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.
