A working visit to the Principality by Ms Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS)

On 8 and 9 April 2024, Ms Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), paid a working visit to the Principality.
As part of this visit, Ms Winnie Byanyima attended a working meeting alongside Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadei, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr Christophe Robino, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, H.E. Ms Carole Lanteri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Monaco to the United Nations Office at Geneva, and representatives of the Fight Aids Monaco Association.
This meeting was held to discuss current issues in the fight against HIV/AIDS and, to present Monaco's national and international policy on this issue to the Executive Director.
In this respect, Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadei highlighted the various partnerships that have been established over the years by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Department of International Cooperation while reaffirming the Principality's full support in implementing the UNAIDS Strategy 2021-2026 entitled 'End Inequalities, End AIDS'.
Mr Christophe Robino outlined the national HIV/AIDS policy, which is structured around three interdependent areas: prevention, screening, and treatment. He also highlighted the results of this policy, which are reflected in the control of the incidence rate among the resident population and emphasised the commitment of all parties and sectors involved in this vital cause.
At the end of her visit, Ms Winnie Byanyima was greeted by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador since 2006.
