The new academic year officially began for 201 students grouping together 30 nationalities on Monday 21st September at the Bioforce Europe training centre in Lyon, after 37 students began their academic year in Dakar, Senegal on 8th September. The patron for this academic year is none other than Bénédicte Schutz, Director of the Government of Monaco’s International Cooperation.

With this “patronage” the Monegasque Cooperation and Institut Bioforce continue their special partnership. The Government of Monaco has lent support to the training centre in Dakar since it first opened in 2017, and also supports a major study on humanitarian professions (State of Humanitarian Professions) see here
The importance of training in the eyes of the Monegasque Cooperation and its Director is moreover reflected in the message conveyed by the patron of this 38th academic year to “her” students: “A training course is undertaken to prevent restlessness within, to ask oneself the right questions, and to change one’s prospects – that is why this break of one year is so extremely valuable”.
To prepare them for the vagaries of their future humanitarian lives, Bénédicte Schutz readily evokes the notion of antifragility put forward by the Lebanese-American philosopher, Nassim Nicholas Taleb: “Life does not happen without uncertainty, without shock, without stress, without crisis. To prepare oneself better for life, one needs to develop antifragility. When the shock comes, one will accept it and know how to react. »
Finally, as a source of inspiration, she encourages them to adopt the Ikigai concept: “To attain fulfilment and self-achievement, we need to converge four core elements: what we love, what we are good at, what we can get paid for and what the world needs. Passion vocation, profession, mission! »
The Monegasque Cooperation wishes all this year’s students an excellent academic year under the patronage of Bénédicte Schutz!
