Developed by SOMAPED with a view to streamlining the work of all neonatal departments, this pamphlet is designed to improve the quality of care, as well as reduce the neonatal mortality rate.

The 3,000 examples, whose production was funded by the Monegasque Cooperation, are being distributed to healthcare centres on the main island, following the official donation ceremony at the Ministry of Public Health which was held on 21st May 2020 in the capital, Antananarivo.

On this occasion, Professor Ahmad, Madagascar’s Minister of Public Health, welcomed the publication of the booklet. “I hope that this pamphlet will be widely distributed and used!” he declared.

In Madagascar, the Government of Monaco has supported child health and the fight against malnutrition since 2018 through funding the rehabilitation of the paediatric department at the Tambohobe University Hospital in Fianarantsoa. The hospital houses a centre for intensive nutritional recovery (CRENI) for children suffering from acute malnutrition.
