On Tuesday 27 June, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, signed the "Leaders for Peace" appeal, established by the Italian organisation Rondine.
The signing of this appeal, which was attended by representatives from the organisation led by its founding president, Mr Franco Vaccari, is part of the three-year "Leaders for Peace" campaign sent to all 193 Member States of the United Nations. The campaign aims to support the training of new global peace leaders, promote human rights education and teaching in schools, and establish scholarships for the training of these new leaders.
Through the Department of International Cooperation, the government of Monaco has been supporting Rondine since 2015, with a particular focus on higher education for young students. This partnership was extended in 2022 to provide scholarships for two students from Lebanon and Mali until 2024, Lebanon and Mali being partner countries of the Monegasque cooperation
"Rondine Cittadella della Pace" was founded in 1998, and finances scholarships for young people from countries in conflict or post-conflict areas. These young students are housed on campus in the village of Rondine, in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, and can access a master’s programme of their choice for 2 years.
With this agreement, the government of Monaco reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace worldwide and reducing armed conflict.
