On 18 October 2022, in the margins of the World Health Summit in Berlin (Germany), Monaco took part in a fundraising conference in aid of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), and announced a financial commitment for the period 2022–2026.
This funding will support global efforts aimed at overcoming the final obstacles to eradicating polio, vaccinating 370 million children per year over the next five years and continuing efforts to monitor the disease in 50 countries.
In a video message, H.E. Ms Carole Lanteri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Monaco to the International Organisations in Geneva, recalled the Principality’s history of commitment alongside the GPEI, and welcomed the efforts undertaken by healthcare workers to reach every child, despite sometimes challenging security conditions.
