On this anniversary, the Principality looked back to when its membership with WHO began at the 1st World Assembly and has since been politically and financially committed to supporting the organisation in fulfilling its mandate.

In this respect, Monaco congratulated WHO on its work to strengthen actions in favour of Universal Health Coverage and confirmed its support for WHO initiatives in this sector.

The Principality also contributed to the issue of polio eradication. In fact, Monaco has supported the Global Polio Eradication Initiative for the past 20 years and is one of its leading donors per capita.

The Monegasque delegation also took an active part in discussions on strengthening WHO's preparedness and response to health emergencies. In light of this, the conflict in Ukraine, a health and humanitarian emergency, was the subject of lengthy discussions. Monaco reiterated its message of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and, alongside 80 other member states, supported a decision put forward by Ukraine.

In addition, building on its commitment to recognising environmental threats to human health, Monaco also supported a resolution on the impact of chemicals, waste, and pollution on human health.

The Monegasque delegation was led by H.E. Ms Carole Lanteri, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Monaco to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
