On 30 May 2024, H.E. Mr Gabriel Revel, the Principality of Monaco’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, and Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, renewed an agreement for voluntary contributions between Monaco and the Council.
Through this agreement, Monaco has reaffirmed its support for the Council of Europe by committing to support the institution’s activities.
Programmes supported by the Prince’s Government are coherent with the Principality’s international commitments and focus on four fields in which the Council of Europe has demonstrated recognised expertise:
- Efforts to combat violence against women, domestic violence and violence against children in Morocco and Tunisia (Council of Europe Neighbourhood Partnership);
- The Council of Europe Action Plan on Protecting Vulnerable Persons in the Context of Migration and Asylum in Europe;
- Work to improve the effectiveness of the European Court of Human Rights by reducing the backlog of sound cases;
- Fund for the Convention for the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention).
