A major partnership for the education of young people in Madagascar: The NGO ‘Projet Jeune Leader (PJL)’ and the Madagascan Ministry of Education are joining forces to transform the future of 400,000 rural teenagers.

From September 2025, one in six rural Malagasy teenagers will benefit from PJL's life skills education programme. Supported for 10 years by the Government of the Principality of Monaco, this programme is a crucial response to the challenges faced by young adolescents in Madagascar, including teenage pregnancy and marriage, lack of information about their lives, rights and health, and gender-based violence.

Overseas development - a work visit to Madagascar

From 24 March to 4 April, a Monégasque delegation* led by Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, travelled to Madagascar to meet local partners, beneficiaries of projects supported by the Monégasque Cooperation and the Malagasy authorities.

Malagasy Gospel comes to Monaco

From 18 to 23 November, Monaco welcomed Malagasy Gospel, a gospel choir made up of young Madagascans from disadvantaged backgrounds. Meetings, exchanges, concerts, sustainable development and children's rights were at the heart of this short but intense stay in the Principality.

Sainte Marie: on track to eliminate malaria

Madagascar – Within the framework of reviewing the Malaria Programme and drawing up a new National Strategic Plan to combat Malaria PSN 2023 – 2027, the District of Sainte Marie was classified in 2021 as being on the path to malaria elimination with an incidence of 0.89‰.

First international cooperation trip for Isabelle Berro-Amadeï

From 26 March to 2 April 2022, a Monegasque delegation* led by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, visited Madagascar to hold discussions with the Malagasy authorities, to open a food factory in the south of the country, and to meet the partners working with Monaco’s Department of International Cooperation. The working visit provided an opportunity to sign the first general framework agreement on cooperation between the two countries.

Monaco and Madagascar sign framework cooperation agreement

During her working visit to the Republic of Madagascar from 26 March to 2 April 2022, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation for the Prince’s Government, signed the first framework cooperation agreement between the two countries on Monday 28 March.

On 15th March 2021, the Madagascan Minister of National Education, Ms. Marie Michelle Sahondrarimalala, visited the ECAR Ephata Centre, a socially-oriented care centre for visually impaired children and youth in Fianarantsoa, Madagascar, and lent support by the Government of Monaco since it was first established.
